Dahlias are native to Mexico, Central America and Colombia, valued for their medicinal properties. About 36 species are known, with some reaching 10 meters in height. They bloom in late summer to early fall. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, they're propagated by dividing tubers, cuttings or sometimes seeds.
