Here is another romantic letter from Ahmad Shamlou to Aida: 'I was truly oppressed. Life had been unfair to me. The absurd and wretched life I had lived until now was not worthy of me. I had entrusted myself to a group of people who thought my worth was limited. It is time for society to restore my rights, and this process has begun. It is a bit late, but I am not dissatisfied. The truth is, if society had upheld my rights earlier, these dark and difficult years would not have come, and I would not have found you. Finding you was the greatest victory of my life; I confess this not only to you but loudly, everywhere.' Shamlou wrote this letter on November 21, 1963.
